Quotas & Limits
RoleLogic uses a quota system to manage how many rules and features you can use. This page explains how quotas work and what options are available.
What Are Quotas?
Quotas are limits on your RoleLogic usage:
- Rule Quota: How many rules you can create per server
- Cross-Server Slots: How many servers you can link for cross-server actions
Every account starts with a free quota. Premium plans provide additional quota for larger or more complex setups.

How Quota Works
Per-Server Allocation
Your premium quota is allocated to specific servers:
- Go to the Upgrade page in your dashboard
- See your available quota slots
- Click to assign quota to the servers that need it
- The server immediately gets the expanded rule limit
Active vs. Inactive Quota
- Active Quota: Currently assigned to a server and providing extra rules
- Inactive Quota: Available quota not yet assigned to any server
You can have multiple servers, each using part of your total quota allocation.
Cooldown Period (7 Days)
After assigning quota to a server, there's a 7-day cooldown before you can reassign it to a different server.
Why the cooldown exists:
- Prevents abuse of the system
- Ensures service stability
- Encourages thoughtful quota planning
Example:
- Monday: You assign quota to Server A
- You cannot move that quota to Server B until the following Monday
Plan your quota allocation carefully to avoid waiting during the cooldown.
Quota Usage Display
In your dashboard, you'll see:
- Current rules used: "Rules: 1 / 2" (free) or "Rules: 5 / 28" (premium)
- Cross-server slots: How many linked servers you've used
- Premium status: Your current tier and expiration
What Happens When You Hit Limits?
Reaching Rule Quota
When you reach your rule limit:
- You cannot create new rules until you free up space
- Existing rules continue working normally
- You'll see a "quota limit reached" message when trying to add rules
Solutions:
- Delete unused or test rules
- Consolidate similar rules into one (use "Has Some Roles" with multiple roles)
- Upgrade to premium for more quota
Cross-Server Slot Limits
When you reach cross-server slot limits:
- New cross-server role selections may be restricted
- Existing cross-server rules continue working normally
Solution: Remove unused cross-server actions or upgrade for more capacity.
Checking Your Usage
In the Dashboard
- Open your server's dashboard
- Look at the sidebar for quota information
- See "Rules: X / Y" format (used / total)
On the Upgrade Page
The upgrade page shows:
- Your current plan status (Free or Premium tier)
- Available quota slots to assign
- Which servers have active quota
- Cooldown timers for recently assigned quota
- Options to upgrade or manage subscription
Planning Your Quota
How Many Rules Do I Need?
Consider your use cases and plan accordingly:
| Use Case | Typical Rules | Recommended Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Basic verification cleanup | 1-2 rules | Free |
| Verification + booster rewards | 2 rules | Free |
| Tier/level system | 3-5 rules | Tier 1 |
| Multi-tier with benefits | 6-10 rules | Tier 1-2 |
| Complex onboarding flow | 5-10 rules | Tier 1-2 |
| Staff management + tiers | 10-15 rules | Tier 2 |
| Full server automation | 15-30 rules | Tier 3-4 |
| Enterprise/complex server | 30+ rules | Tier 4-5 |
Estimating Cross-Server Needs
If you manage multiple interconnected servers:
- Count how many servers need to share roles
- Default 5 linked servers is enough for most networks
- Premium expands this for larger communities
Tips for Staying Within Quota
Combine Related Logic
Instead of 3 separate rules:
Rule 1: If Booster → add VIP
Rule 2: If Premium → add VIP
Rule 3: If Supporter → add VIP
Create 1 combined rule:
Rule 1: If has some of [Booster, Premium, Supporter] → add VIP
You just saved 2 rule slots!
Use Conditions Efficiently
Threshold conditions can replace multiple rules:
Instead of:
- Rule 1: If exactly 1 badge → add "Badge Holder"
- Rule 2: If exactly 2 badges → add "Badge Collector"
- Rule 3: If exactly 3 badges → add "Badge Master"
Consider:
- Rule 1: If at least 3 badges → add "Badge Master"
- Rule 2: If at least 1 badge AND lacks "Badge Master" → add "Badge Holder"
Clean Up Unused Rules
Periodically review your rules:
- Delete rules for roles that no longer exist
- Remove test rules you forgot about
- Consolidate redundant rules doing similar things
- Check if any rules are disabled and no longer needed
Leverage Rule Cascading
Design rules that trigger each other:
Example cascade (3 rules instead of 6):
- If has "Bronze" → add "Has Tier"
- If has "Silver" → add "Bronze" (then rule 1 triggers)
- If has "Gold" → add "Silver" (then rules cascade down)
One member getting "Gold" triggers a cascade that adds Silver, Bronze, and "Has Tier" — all with just 3 rules!
